About us

“A new way for Australian divers to share their knowledge of dive sites and dive theory, and to easily schedule great dives anywhere in Australia.”

Dive Sites

Experienced divers have a vast wealth of knowledge about their local dive sites and conditions. Active Diver’s “Dive Sites” pages are designed to make this knowledge accessible to new and visiting divers.

One of the aims of the Active Diver “Dive Sites” pages is to promote the sharing of GPS marks between divers.

GPS marks published online have often been only sporadically reliable. For this reason Active Diver has provided a system where any given dive site can have multiple GPS marks published, and users can provide feedback on the accuracy of these marks.

Active Diver is designed to be dynamic and collaborative. On each “Dive Sites” page there is a section for Diver Experience where any diver can post 150 words on their experience.

Dive Theory

Active Diver is based on the idea that all divers should know as much as possible about the theory behind the activity of diving.

The “Dive Theory” pages are designed to teach divers everything they need to know about diving.

Whether preparing to take a new diving course from a certifying agency, or clarifying concepts you didn’t fully understand, Active Diver’s aim is to be an easily accessible source of diving theory and information.

There are so many divers out there with knowledge and experience to share. Active Diver is designed to provide a means to collate and constantly improve the knowledge base of Australian divers.

Calendar

Divers are great, active and social people. Active Diver is based on the idea of linking people who want to go diving, with people who want to take them diving.

Any diver can create a Calendar event for other divers to attend.

Anyone with a private boat can use the Calendar system to fill extra spaces onboard and share the cost of fuel.

Independent instructors can fill courses.

Dive shops and dive clubs can use the Calendar system to achieve national exposure of their diving schedule.

Use the Calendar system to see what dives are available in your area when planning a day, a weekend, or a month diving.

General

Active Diver is a site for divers, by divers. That is why all contributions to a “Dive Theory” or “Dive Sites” page are acknowledged at the bottom of the page. You have done the work, you deserve recognition for your contribution.

Any collaborative knowledge project needs an area where people can discuss new ideas and share knowledge on an informal basis. That is why Active Diver has incorporated a “Discussion Forum” to allow the free exchange of ideas.
